Collective Bargaining Update:

Our current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is in effect until 2028. Compensation and up to two articles per side can be “re-opened” each year. Our first session was originally scheduled for May 14 but the internet was down on all campuses so it was canceled. The session was rescheduled to Monday, June 22 at 3 pm on Zoom. The following session is scheduled for July 15 in person.

Public records laws in Florida (Sunshine Laws) require that all bargaining proposals be shared in a public meeting, so we cannot share our proposals in advance. We will send out a bargaining summary after the meeting.

Collective Bargaining Session #1: Monday, June 22 @ 3pm (Zoom)

Collective Bargaining Session #2: Wednesday, July 15 @ 9am (West)

Tuesday June 22: Two Summer Socials:

There will be TWO opportunities to show up for the union. Your union is hosting a lunch at Chipotle on the west side and drinks at Krate on the east side. All faculty are welcome. Commune with colleagues and drop off your SOI Card, if you need to.

Strategic Planning Retreat: Wed June 23 from 10AM-2PM

A union workday planned for our new Executive Council and any faculty member who would like to get more engaged. Check your personal email for more detailed schedule of events and an evite link. This event will take place in a HyFlex classroom at Porter Campus. Lunch will be provided.

LIABILITY INSURANCE IS A MEMBER BENEFIT

WHEN SOMETHING GOES WRONG...

What if...

A student accuses you of harassment?

What if...

A student is injured in your classroom?

What if...

You are assaulted by a student?

If you are a union member at the time of the incident, your union has your back.

NEA's Liability Insurance for Educators covers damages and legal fees for union members who are sued in the course of their employment. Please view this link for more details.

Additionally, union members have a right to a union representative in meetings that may result in discipline.

But you must be a member before something goes wrong. There have been situations at PHSC where our union could not represent faculty because they had not joined.

Join now to guarantee the support of your union if something goes wrong.

DID YOU GET A PHONE CALL FROM YOUR UNION?

Union leadership has been reaching out to faculty the old-fashioned way.

Your union wants to hear from you! Please take a moment to make your voice heard and offer solutions to problems we are all facing. Your feedback will help UFF-PHSC improve communication, strengthen engagement, and better advocate for faculty priorities.

Showing if Interest (SOI) Cards

We have collected almost enough SOI cards to ensure we will have an election in the event that we do not reach 60% membership.

BIG THANKS TO THOSE WHO HAVE SIGNED CARDS!

We have mailed SOI cards to the home addresses of those who have not signed. Look out for a card in the mail and return ASAP.

SOI cards are critical to protecting our union.

We must reach 60% membership density by July 9. If we do not meet this goal, signed SOI cards will be required to trigger an election to maintain our status as your bargaining representative.

Every SOI card matters, regardless of your membership status.

To help protect our union, we ask every faculty member in the bargaining unit to sign, regardless of their membership status.

Signing does not initiate dues

Your response is confidential to the

Public Employees Relations Commission (PERC)

Be sure to sign your SOI card using blue or black ink.

DEADLINE JULY 9
